Perfect Bird Watching Sites in North India
1. Corbett National Park
Corbett National Park is about 7-8 hours journey from Delhi, during last 2 hours of drive you will get to watch birds and Wildlife of this park. In the morning and afternoon you can visit grasslands and forest areas, and the track along the Ramganga river which is good for Birding especially for wet birds like river lapwings, waders and mergansers, jungle owlet, spot-bellied owl, common stonechat, black francolin, purple and crimson sunbird.
Elephant safari is the best way to go through grassland and forest areas of Corbett national park, it is the best mode of transport for wild ife viewing in the park.
2. Sambhar road and Khinanauli
As far as bird watching sites are concerned, the best locations for birding are Sambhar road and Khinanauli in Dhikala. Here, one can expect to see beautiful words like slaty woodpecker, puff-throated babbler, white-rumped shama great hornbill and many more
3. Sat-tal in Lal Kuan
Sat-tal in Lal Kuan is famous for its variety of Himalayan bird species such as red-breasted accentor, blue-throated barbet, chestnut-headed tesia, greater & lesser yellow-naped woodpecker, dark-throated thrush, rufous-chinned laughing thrush, black bulbul and many others.
4. National Chambal Sanctuary
National Chambal Sanctuary is three hours away form Mathura and if you are lucky, here you might watch beautiful birds like Indian skimmer, black-bellied tern, flocks of migratory waterfowl and other species include crocodile, Gangetic dolphin and turtles.
5. Ranthambhor National Park
This is one of the amazing bird watching sites and here you can expect to watch sirkeer malkoha, desert wheatear, southern grey shrike, painted sandgrouse, Indian courser, yellow-wattled lapwing, Isabelline wheatear and mnay other.
6. Around Delhi city Sultanpur bird Sanctuary
Around Delhi city Sultanpur bird Sanctuary is another one of the great bird watching sites. It is around 40 kms away from Delhi and situated in Haryana state.
It has been declared as national park by Haryana government. It is an ideal place for bird watchers for Birding Tours. In past Years Haryana government has done a lot to improve infrastructure and facilities in this park.
This bird sanctuary is famous for migratory birds, a huge number of migratory birds come here. Ad these migratory birds include White Wagtail, Northern Shoveler, Rosy Pelican, Gadwall, Wood Sandpiper, Black crowned Night Heron, Eurasian Golden Oriole, Comb duck, Comb duck, Blue cheeked Bee Eater, Blue-tailed Bee-Eater.
It generally takes two hours to visit the whole park by foot.
